STOCK FOOTAGE REPRESENTATION

Prospective Cinematographers and Videographers

Thank you for your interest in allowing Aquavision TV Productions to represent your Motion Footage. We are always looking to represent new, high quality footage from professional natural history and cultural Cinematographers and Videographers who have an established collection of footage and are able to make regular submissions. This document contains information about the library and submission guidelines.

The Library

Established in 1992, Aquavision TV Productions has earned its reputation as the preferred African producer of blue chip natural history and cultural documentaries for the International broadcast market.  We are globally recognized for filming extraordinary animal behaviour, both underwater and in the untamed African bush.

Aquavision TV Production’s stock library houses a unique and comprehensive collection of over 6000 hours of High Definition broadcast quality footage. All footage accepted by Aquavision TV Productions is made available to buyers worldwide for searching, preview and licensing.

Motion Footage content

Natural history and Cultural footage is rich in subject matter and we want our footage collection to be comprehensive and unique. We are looking for staggeringly beautiful motion footage that captures the natural diversity of all the world’s countries, natural history and cultures: from the major tourist attractions to everyday scenes, from remote landscapes to the interiors of homes, from popular destinations to little known places off the beaten track. Festivals and people, food, flora, transport, communications, architecture, and landscapes are just some of the many subjects we are looking for.

Regardless of the style of your motion footage, it should be of extremely high quality. Commercially oriented work should be professionally shot or recorded and carefully chosen. Please use your good judgement in selecting your clips, and submit only those clips that are likely to be commercially viable.

Benefits of Representation

·  Access to leading International Producers, Broadcasters and Production houses.

·   Access to a Global Marketplace of Buyers who will be able to search for, preview and purchase your motion footage.

·  We will vault your broadcast quality masters in an access and climate controlled facility.

·  We will input content and format information for your footage into our database.

·  We offer opportunities to advertise and showcase your material designed to bring business to your doorstep.

·  We offer fair and attractive Non-Exclusive representation agreement.

·  50% Commissions on All Sales. Simple, straightforward and very competitive in the stock industry.

·  As your clip portfolio grows, this can mean regular, ongoing income from a relatively small initial investment of time.

·   You receive a detailed statement of sales.

Exclusivity vs. Non-Exclusivity

Aquavision TV Productions will urge you to consider granting Aquavision exclusive representation. Granting exclusive representation rights to Aquavision TV Productions has several benefits that includes:

·   increasing the potential value of the stock footage;

·  creating a distinction between quality library stock and royalty-free stock;

·  giving clients confidence in the originality of footage;

·  setting high standards that will be respected by clients;

·  being able to charge clients higher rates for quality footage.

Although the footage is represented exclusively, Cinematographers and Videographers will retain full copyright over their motion footage and may reproduce their footage on their websites, in exhibitions, self-promotion, or their own productions and can also still sell directly to clients.

We only require Cinematographers and Videographers not to place their footage with another motion footage archive or library.

Partners

Aquavision TV Productions, as part of FOX International, has dual representation agreements with NHNZ (Natural History New Zealand) and territory based partners, further increasing the exposure and licensing potential of selected footage.

Agreement period

As the on-line library requires a major investment in equipment and time, we require a commitment to represent selected footage for a minimum of 5 years.

Licensing fees and payment

Cinematographers and Videographers receive 50% of Third Parties Rights to Use licensing fees. Payments are made quarterly.

Sending a Submission for Consideration

In order for our Librarian to accurately assess your work:

·  a first submission must consist of a minimum of five 10 minute low res clips on CD/DVD

· This must represent the range of your collection’s geographic and content coverage.

BRODERICK WHITTAKER
Free Diver and Underwater Cameraman

The silent nature of free diving combined with 20 years of spear fishing experience has given Brod the ability to find & get up close to many species rarely seen by most underwater filmographers. He has an obsession with "joining the shoals" of sometimes shy and maybe misunderstood creatures of the ocean. His unique knowledge of the underwater environment gives him an advantage in filming sport fishing, getting the underwater build up to the bite and the strike is what he strives for, taking viewers with him as he swims amongst the very species they pursue from above, giving them a broader understanding and deeper appreciation of our fragile sea-life.

He has worked on sport fishing productions and is currently with ESA (Extreme Sports Angling) which airs on Super Sport, as their in-house underwater cameraman. Besides his off screen contribution to the show, he is occasionally in front of the camera as a guest angler. He is also the 2009 SA National Spear Fishing Champion and has just released a DVD called Spearvision, a journey into the nature of spear fishing shedding some positive light on the sport.

His true passion is the ocean and all of its creatures in their natural state. “There is no better sensation than free-falling to the ocean floor and being surrounded by large predators or accepted into a shoal.”

If there is specific underwater footage you need and he doesn’t have it, he can get it for you.

CHARLES MAXWELL
Emmy award winning underwater cinematographer

Charles Maxwell is an underwater cinematographer living in Cape Town, South Africa. He has been diving for over 40 years and therefore has an excellent knowledge of the South African marine environment as well as contacts in the documentary and scientific communities.

Charles began his career in underwater filming in 1987 while assisting Swiss filmmaker, Gerald Favre with his production Le Souffle du Dragon,a story about the discovery and exploration of the world's largest underground lake in Namibia. Since then he has worked with many production companies worldwide.

"South Africa is one of the sharkiest coasts on earth" Sir David Attenborough in his narration for the BBC's "Shark Coast"

Working with the sea can be frustrating and sometimes dangerous but mostly rewarding. It is not all about tropical islands and warm water and sometimes involves spending many cold hours underwater often on your own. While Charles specializes in documentary films about sharks, whales, dolphins and the Cape fur seals that are abundant in the cold water near Cape Town where he lives, he spends a lot of time along the coast between Cape Town and Mozambique.

Charles was a 2002 Primetime Emmy Award winner in the category Outstanding Cinematography for work done for The Blue Planet: Seas of Life, produced by the BBC / Discovery Channel. In 2006 Charles filmed rays feeding on squid for the BBC's Planet Earth: Shallow Seas.
