Lerato Mthembu
Facilities Manager
Lerato started in the film industry as a freelance director’s assistant on local ‘soapies’ broadcast on SABC. He then expanded into children’s programming, live broadcasts, game shows and talk shows with the production company Urban Brew. He then freelanced at Red Pepper Pictures as production assistant for the highly original talk show Taxi 2 which involved being a part of a large number of ENG’s.
He moved to Aquavision in 2007 as library assistant and now runs the facilities department. “The thing I enjoy most about the film and TV industry is that its fast pace keeps you young with new fresh ideas being generated all the time. It’s not about doing the same thing over and over. There are different challenges every day,” he says.
It is these different challenges that drive him, including being a father of a young family.
